Swimming pool lights are often the souce of a pool leak. These leaks can be difficult to find since modern pool light casings are typically built into the pool structure and the back section is recessed almost 200mm (20cm). The gland where the wire goes through the casing is on the back section so without getting into the water and using dye whilst wearing swimming goggles or a diving mask it's impossible to test this area for a leak.

We recently found a light casing cracked on the outside where a screw attached the front panel to the the main casing on a fibreglass shell. This leak was not at all visible from inside the pool. We eventually found it by lifting the paving behind the light and digging down to it (see pic). Notice the water spraying out right next to the blue wire/cable on the left side.
